Just like it was for many of us, for them it HAS TO be true because it's God's organization. Truth isn't true because it's correct, it's true because it's God's organization and therefore it's always truth. Right isn't right because it's moral, it's right because it's God's organization and therefore it's always moral. With that sort of ability to justify, you don't even bother to question. You're a GB member. Oh goody. Praise Jah. You must always be right even when you go off on ridiculous tangent diatribes against tight pants because you represent God's organization.

If you read Crisis of Conscience it seemed like at that time the GB was a mixed bag of personalities with varying degrees of intelligence and conscience. I would guess it is similar today. Most are true believers who think what they do and say is right - not because it is morally right by any logical standard - but because it is Jehovah's organization and that can't be wrong. -

True believing JWs are perfectly willing to lie for the Borg, go to prison for the Borg, or die for the Borg. I expect very few of these elders to be swayed in any way by these proceedings. None of them have so far.
The benefit will be that *maybe* the news media surrounding all this will empower more victims to come forward and realize that the cult is WRONG and EVIL for how it's treated them. Also, people will be less likely to take the literature, study, convert, etc. though that's barely ever happening anymore anyway. -

The "transcripts" at the commission site (at this point) look like summaries typed up by a clerk and then signed by the witnesses as being accurate. Good enough for now, until word-for-word transcripts are made (if they even do that in Australia). -

I finally saw one for the first time in my town. The JW sat on a park bench far enough away that there would be no practical way for her to even strike up a conversation with someone taking mags off the cart. It's just a way to count time and waste time, just like all other field service. -

JW ended a relationship with me
by V1922 inmy jw boyfriend just ended a year and a half relationship with me.
it came out the blue and i'm deeply hurt by this because we were so compatible.
he did it right before the big annual gathering he is presently attending.

last nights news featured the australian commision into jehovah's witness elders not reporting pedophiles.
it was very damning!
